Bird Boy

One of my more recent works has been bird boy

I got the idea from Emerald and I thought why not have her and me put together.

We have also been going on lots of field trips,
we went to Yuragir National Park
which is massive
and we saw a kookaburra catch a worm
and come really close to us

and we also saw a baby racehourse goanna
come out of the grass

Raptors

We are doing a bird unit study and here is some writing I have done today

Climate Change

I am an albatross,
I am fleeing because the climate is changing,
It is very tiring,
I am wet, cold , hungry and sore,
I do not know where we will land,
Our Island is no longer our home.
The place we have always nested is ravaged by ferociuos storms
and it seems to be getting smaller,
and too crowded.
We have had to defend our young-
those who could fly,
From hungry sea eagles and other mouths who want to eat them.
I had to leave my hatchlings behind.
They could not fly.
I am so tired.
I hope we can land soon.

I also have done a haiku poem on eagles

The Lord of the sky
Magestic Eagle on high
Surveys his kingdom

Haiku is an ancient Japanese form of poerty that focuses on rhythm not rhyme

The lego fort

This is me. I am in the background of one of my lego forts. Its quite large and the walls are an inch an a half thick, which in lego is quite large.

I liked making this fort, it went right across my doorway.

This is the back view and shows the stair cases and some of the men who are on watch duty. You can see their standard and below that is the tower.

This is a close up of a couple of pike men and a pole spearer, they are talking.

Yesterday I had a tooth pulled out of the right side of my mouth and that area is still very sensitive and sore.

Cubby workers

My Dad and I have finally started to build the cubby house that was meant to be my fourth birthday present.

We've got the frame work and the rails ready and most of the old flooring up and we're almost ready to make the first of the walls and roof frame.

It's going to have a single room with a door and a gate on the veranda, and most importantly of all it will have a perch for a very special little girl- Emerald.

Our Rowdy Rainbow Birds

This is a great poem about Rainbow lorikeets that I got from a website called Inkless Tales

Our Rowdy Rainbow Birds

Down Under, in Australia,
The lorikeets are loud.
They're brilliant birds
Quite colourful --
But what a squawking sound!

The children love them,
Just the same,
(After all --
These birds aren't tame.)

Lovely to look at,
Harder to hear,
So use your eyes
And cover your ears
When you visit Down Under
And wonder --

Is that a lorikeet you hear?

Its rather nice dont you think ?

I do but I suppose its just because I love lorrikeets or mabe not

I hope she doen't mind that I am sharing it here-

Emerald

Emerald is a lovely Australian Rainbow Lorikeet

She is about 6 months old

She is a nectar eater and I pick her fresh lowers and make fruit sticks for her to eat.
She also has some commercial lorikeet mixes
